The Castle of Good Hope is a historical attraction on the outlying area of the business district and was built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (DEIC / VOC). It was originally built to provide maritime replenishment support until the area grew and operations were moved to a new location. It is now a seat of the military in the Cape and gives visitors the chance to gain an understanding of its history.

The Bo Kaap, formerly known as the Malay Quarter, is a colourful neighbourhood situated on the slopes of signal hill above the city centre. This area is famous for its colourful homes, steep streets and vibrant culture. It escaped the forced removals policy of the apartheid era and therefore holds stories of survival. It is a must-see while visiting the Cape.

Situated in the beautiful Company Gardens, the South African Museum gives you a peak into South Africa’s history and heritage throughout the years. Home to a planetarium where see what the night sky looks like, this is a must-visit! The Company Gardens is famous for its immaculate lawns, colourful fish ponds, leader statues, wildlife and beautiful picnic spots.
